The department provides registration of measuring instruments and state certified reference materials in accordance with regulatory documentation under the Republic of Kazakhstan's Law on Ensuring the Uniformity of Measurements.
For type approval testing and metrological certification of measuring instruments, the department arranges the testing facilities and selects the required measurement standards and state certified reference materials.

2. Calibration of measuring instruments under ST RK 2.12-2013, “Calibration of measuring instruments. Organisation and procedure”.
3. Development, metrological certification and registration of measurement procedures under ST RK 2.18-2019,
“Measurement procedures. Procedure for development, metrological certification, registration and application”.
4. Type approval of measuring instruments under ST RK 2.21-2019, “Testing procedure for type approval of measuring instruments”.
5. Recognition of test results under PMG 06-2001;
6. Metrological certification of measuring instruments under ST RK 2.30-2019, “Procedure for metrological certification of measuring instruments”;
7. Certification of test equipment under ST RK 2.75-2018, “Procedure for certification of test equipment”.
8. Type approval testing and metrological certification of measuring instruments, including selection of the required measurement standards and state certified reference materials.
